Ride

“Jimmy Zee is a natural entertainer and there aren’t a lot of those around. He also writes good songs, a skill that hasn’t left him here. Warner Music obviously noticed as well, making this one available across the country. Ride is more stylistically unified, often reminding me of the Omar & The Howlers brand of roadhouse blues. The title track opens the CD and it’s a good one: a grinding road song with atmospheric harp and guitars. “Devil Woman” is the obvious link to the previous album and it’s built on a killer groove. There are more ear-catching songs: “Feels Alright To Me” is a great slab of funk. The entire album or singles can be downloaded here, this is a pay what you may download. If you like it share it.

Ride

Ride

I wanted this title track RIDE to make you feel like your cruising down the big slab with no worry in the world. Just close your eyes and let us take you down that deserted highway. Let Charlie Hase’s slide playing take you away as you ride along the open road with this track.

Devil Woman

Devil Woman

We all know a Devil Woman. She'll steal you heart, your soul, and take you for all you've got- but she'll keep you commin' back for more.

Feels alright to me

Feels alright to me

There's bad boys and there's bad girls. They're the ones you don't take home to mother, but they've got everything you want and need. Scott Tucker and Elliot Polski the rythym section on this album lay down some heavy grooves, letting Terry Townson and Steve Hilliam blow some mean ass horn. The Funky Mr. Kelly Brown is all over this track with his incredible guitar work.

Working Man

Working Man

This is easily one of my favorite Rush tunes off of their debut album. I wanted to pay homage to this true classic. Gotta love Charlie Hase’s slide solo...it's absolutely killer. This song is one of the first song’s I've ever learned the full guitar solo. My first gig we played live was at school, we were forced to stop when we did this song because they said we were too loud, and we had everyone going crazy. A while later one of the teachers asked me to show him that solo, I guess they liked it after all.

Get More

Get More

We always want to get more. It seems like no one is satisfied with what they've got. People seem to think they always need more, but do they really?

Friend of mine

Friend of mine

Not everyone in life has your back. True friends are the ones that stick around when we’re down and out. We all learn this lesson at some point.

I want to live

I want to live

Gotta love Pink Floyd I think they are inspiration to all artists. David Gilmour style lead playing is done by Gerard O’leary, and Daryl Havers brings the Richard Wright textures into the mix. As a writer, it's as close to a Pink Floyd tune I think I have ever come.

Fallen Angel

Fallen Angel

It’s painful to to see when others are down on their luck. Sometimes people think it’s their place to play the judge and jury. The truth is that everyone has a story, and everyone was once somebody's little angel. It's heartbreaking when that little angel becomes a fallen one.

Shot of whiskey

Shot of whiskey

Ever been dragged by a woman down a dead-end road? That woman took me back to school. Rob Macdonald lights up this track with a smokin’ Dobro solo while Harpdog Brown chugs on down that track.

Hearts

Hearts

From Detroit to Omaha and New Orleans to Spider Lake. At the end of the day, no matter where you go, we’re all just looking for love. Open your heart up and let the love find you.

Pay what you may

Description

“Working Man” is the song by Rush and it feels like Zee wrote it. “Get More” has a catchy hook played on acoustic slide. The highlights keep coming, with “Friend Of Mine”, “I Want To Live” & “Shot Of Whiskey” maintaining that all-important momentum.” -John Valenteyn, Toronto Blues Society. "The Zee Band throws a curveball covering Rush’s “Working Man” – the 7:12 minute prog-rock masterpiece is cut-down to 3:36 and stripped down to it’s bare bones focusing in on the middle-class sentiment, a growling guitar solo and some off beat piano plucks. This is something that Jack White would do – and Jimmy Zee pulls it off with finesse"-The Stage Door
