DEVIL TAKE ME DOWN

Nominated for Blues CD of the year by West Coast Music Awards This man can sing and write songs. He has put together an ambitious package here. A large percentage of the west coast music scene is on hand to support a solid set of songs. Most of them feature a full band, with horns & back up singers. "Working Hard" is a solid, funky set opener with some wonderful harp work by the USA Jimmy Z (Etta James, The Eurythmics)

Working Hard

Working Hard

We all know we gotta work hard to keep our relationships going. This tune features a scorching solo from the USA Jimmy Z on the Harp. (Rod Stewart, Etta James, Pink and check him out the Eurythmics Missionary Man tune...killer no filler) I met Jimmy Z online and said we should do a gig together... he said who would headline?

Devil take me down

Devil take me down

We all do the things we know we shouldn’t. Sometimes it feels like we just can't stop. Maybe it’s just the devil inside us. Nadine States rocks the track with her stunning vocals. Elliot Polski and Scott Tucker hold down the back beat while leaving room for Harpdog Brown and Charlie Haze to do their thing.

Diamonds

Diamonds

The one we truly love is worth all the diamonds in the world to us. In this track, Tony Brinks lays down a solo that truly sparkles.

Bad End Boys

Bad End Boys

You probably know some Bad End Boys. They do what they want and no one can get in their way. Kelly Brown and Terry Townson really sizzle in this track. That fine keyboard sound is done by the Mr. Daryl Havers. Christiana Vierra is my special guest from Texas, and man does she have some pipes.

Drinking all night long

Drinking all night long

Sometimes we have no idea where we’re going, but there’s always one person who will hear us out. The bartender. Background vocals feature none other than the world famous Julie Blue.

All my love

All my love

I remade this tune from a former song that I wrote for my band in Winnipeg. It's got some 20/20 full on funk. Check out the funky bass by Chris Biasutti, he kills it on this track,

Boston City

Boston City

All cities can be so cold when your all alone. I got an original Boston girl, Christina Vierra to come along and really bring it in with her vocals.

Only a Fool

Only a Fool

Everyone has played the fool by loving someone who just won't love them back.

Roxy Roller Remake

Roxy Roller Remake

This remake of Sweeny Todd’s big hit single was named one of the top 10 remakes of all time by the Toronto Star. We recorded this in a dingy little voice-over studio in downtown Vancouver. The set up was tiny, but we made it work. Huge harmonica solo by Shawn Hall with a blistering guitar solo by Tony Brinks. Brennan Saul keeps it steady and solid on the drums. I’m still not really sure how we pulled this one off. I give the credit to the genius of Mark Henning.

Parade Day

Parade Day

I wrote this song reminiscing fair day back in my hometown, Gilbert Plains. The parade was always the start of the fun festivities. Everyone came out, and no one was left out. I played the drums in the school marching while wearing my Sunday best, and had my Saturday night smile. There was nothing quite like the parade day.

Description

“Devil Take Me Down” is a fine acoustic blues. He has a knack for good pop hooks too, as “Diamonds” shows. More funk with “Bad End Boys”, of which he is surely one. “Drinking All Night Long” opens with slide guitar, harp, piano and drums. The title says it all. After an excellent and original full band song, “All My Love”, the acoustic band returns for “Boston City”, his girl is leaving for this city and he’s not happy- Maple Blues Society.
