What You See Is What You Get

What You See Is What You Get

Be who you are, accept who are, and face whatever life throws at you. Time don't wait for no second takes. The title track features Annabelle Chvosek on background vocals and Steve Hilliam on the baritone sax with some real groovy Doc Kupka feels. Joel Fountain and Miles Hill do it real swampy on drums and bass. Harpdog Brown, one of Canada's finest Harp players is on board for this track. Tim Porter and Rob MacDonald trade tasty licks throughout the track.

Backroads (Feat. Rick Threat) (Blues meets Rap)

Backroads (Feat. Rick Threat) (Blues meets Rap)

Take some time for yourself, get off the main road, and take the backroad. Kick it back and enjoy life's journey. I was looking for something else on this track, luck has it I was invited to an event and got to see rapper Rick Threat, I was so blown away by the style and flow of Rick i knew his explosive energy was exactly what this track needed. Annabelle Chvostek sweetens up the track while Harpdog Brown and Rob MacDonald get swampy on a harp and the dobro. Grab a big gulp and pack of twizzlers and head down the backroad.

I Ride Alone

I Ride Alone

Our journey through life is a solo ride. Nadine States laces this track with some chilling chants emanating from her Cree Aboriginal roots.

Time Will Heal Everything

Time Will Heal Everything

Time really does heal all things. Once again, the background vocal dynamics by Nadine States will give you shivers. It’s no wonder she’s one of Vancouver’s top female vocalists.

Money

Money

It seems as though we never have enough money…or know where our money goes. A powerful guitar solo from the hands of Tim Porter takes this track to a new level. Steve Hilliam's bari sax gets the funk out. It sounds and feels like Miles Hill and Joel Fountain the rhythm section are glued at the hip.

My Old Lady is a Freakshow (Detroit Made)

My Old Lady is a Freakshow (Detroit Made)

Started with the title my old lady is a freak show, but needed to take it somewhere after many rewrites. I did song as a comparison to a hot vehicle. A real classic lady. A good ol' fashioned, Detroit made, American muscle car. Home grown right down to the motor oil.

Blind

Blind

Falling in love at first is easy. Its staying in love can be complicated. Sometimes it can be hard to know what we really want, and that’s why we need to remember why we fell in love in the first place. I wrote this song while sitting in a car on my way to mainland china; with a man who spoke not a lick of English. Still, we grooved together. He kept a beat on the dashboard drums as I played my Washburn travel guitar.

She's a Mystery to Me

She's a Mystery to Me

The feminine mystery of a woman is both intoxicating and frustrating. Women are crazy and complex creatures. But hey, that’s why we love them!

You're The Best it can Get

You're The Best it can Get

I wrote the instrumentals to this song while waiting for a delayed flight at the Toronto airport. In LA I wrote the lyrics. Terry Townson plays some very sweet muted trumpet while Elliot Polsky’s live percussion really brings the track together. Joel Fountain and Miles Hill kill it in the rhythm department- giving this track its unique, funky flavour.

I'm No Good Without You

I'm No Good Without You

This song has a few different variations. I made some changes and decided that the acoustic version was the one I wanted to release for my listeners. Rob MacDonald kills it once again on the Dobro.
